Once upon a time, a group of people formed a software development cooperative. They would come to be known as the anti-software software club. they had a vision for a new type of social media platform - the old type. One driven not by algorithms, impressions and engagement metrics; but by community and good old-fashioned Posting. That social media platform would come to be known as Cohost.

Cohost had a lot going against it - cooperatives often do, on account of all the Capitalism stinking up the place - and its developers were a bit idealistic, perhaps even somewhat naive. But Cohost represented a corner of the web that could just be whatever its users wanted it to be, for the most part. Unfortunately, the things going against Cohost eventually overwhelmed it, and it cannot be anything to anybody anymore.

At time of writing, Cohost will be shutting down in a few months’ time, nuking all of the data along with it. Because of that, I’ve decided to take it upon myself to archive all of the posts from my Cohost account that I thought were worth keeping around. It frequently served as a place for me to make longer posts that didn’t quite fit the criteria for the kind of thing that goes on this website, but Cohost’s markdown compatibility means porting things over is pretty easy. So here’s all of the cool posts I made on Cohost.
